The 27-year-old, who was brought to the club by Paul Heckingbottom but has flourished this season under the guidance of Jack Ross, had to go off against Cetic in early January and has been sidelined ever since.

Ross anticipated a return for last weekend’s trip to Tannadice but the Englishman has had to delay his reintroduction to competitive action.

“He trained on the Thursday and Friday prior to Tannadice but he suffered a bit of a reaction,” explained his manager.

“It’s nothing more serious but it would be pointless to risk him being out for a longer period of time.

“He’s done a lot of hard work this season but we’ve just let him take a step back. Hopefully, he'll be back training with the rest of the team next week in time for the trip to Dingwall.”
