Why Jack Ross feels Hibs fans season-ticket effort is 'remarkable'

Easter Road boss knows supporters have dug deep

Jack Ross believes Hibs’ season ticket sales are “remarkable” considering the current situation across the world with the coronavirus crisis.

The Easter Road club has sold more than 2,000 since launching briefs for the 2020/21 campaign a week-and-a-half ago, despite no clarity over when the current season will resume. The 20/21 term could well be delayed or shortened if the remaining eight games of the season are played in the summer.

Moreover, many individuals’ financial situations are uncertain due to the current economic climate, with many workers losing jobs, facing wage cuts or being placed on furlough.

Head coach Ross appreciates all of those factors and hailed the Hibs fanbase for backing the club – who last week announced their own wage deferral and furlough schemes – in numbers.

Ross said: “As a club, we have already surpassed the 2,000 mark [on season ticket sales], which I think is remarkable given there is so much uncertainty about when we return to playing.

“I think it’s a remarkable show of loyalty and commitment from the supporters, especially when a lot of them will be facing uncertain financial situations themselves.

“I think it was absolutely vital that, as a whole club, we showed we were prepared to make sacrifices as well to ensure the future of the football club.”
