The Saints manager takes his side to Hampden Park on Saturday to face Jack Ross’ men in the first of the last-four clashes.

St Johnstone are on a run of one win in ten league games but a full squad is available to pick from.

Davidson has been delighted with the player’s attitude ahead of the match.

He told The Courier: “They’re all ready to go and judging by the way they’ve trained this week, they’re all desperate to play.

“We’ve had to curtail training a bit because it’s been such high intensity. They’ve been having a right go. I’m delighted with that.

“I have 18 players who are desperate to play.

“I just need to make sure I pick the right team, one I think will win the game, and hopefully once they get the jersey they can go and prove themselves and that is enough motivation for them.”

St Johnstone could add to their squad ahead of the match with the club assessing targets.

The Perth side’s performances have been of good standard this campaign under Davidson, who replaced long-standing boss Tommy Wright, but find themselves sitting ninth, only four points off the bottom.

Statistics from Wyscout suggest the team should be fourth, just behind Hibs, with 13 more points than they currently have, going by what they would have been expected to have earned from their performances.
