Edinburgh City goalkeeper Calum Antell signs new contract
Welsh stopper pleased to commit to Citizens
Goalkeeper Calum Antell has signed a new contract with Edinburgh City.
The 27-year-old, who joined City back in 2016, penned a one-year extension to stay with the Ainslie Park club until the summer of 2021.
Former Hibs youngster Antell missed a large chunk of last season due to injury, but the Welshman is expected to be the club’s No.1 when football eventually resumes for City after the coronavirus lockdown.
Antell said: “I’m delighted to extend my contract with Edinburgh City for another year, which takes me into my fifth season with the club.
“To play in the club’s first-ever game in the football league at Meadowbank against Forfar four years ago to now challenging for the league year in year out just shows how far the club has grown over the years, which is a credit to everyone associated with the club.
“Hopefully when the season starts back up we can all pull together and go one step further and take the club to the next level.”
Edinburgh City manager James McDonaugh is delighted to have Antell in his squad for next season, saying: “Calum had a difficult season last season due to injury, but I’m delighted that he will be back next season.”
