The League Two side have pledged to not promote alcohol, tobacco and gambling “in any form”.

In turn, City have urged Edinburgh-based companies and the surrounding area who share similar values to work with the club and carry this message.

The Citizens want to be “a force for good in the local community; helping children and young people develop a positive, healthy outlook on life”.

In recent days, videos of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba removing Coca-Cola and Heineken from Euro 2020 press conferences have gone viral.

Edinburgh note that 62 per cent of SPFL clubs receive sponsorship from alcohol, tobacco and betting companies.

“As the Club works hard behind the scenes this summer to develop new partnerships & sponsors, we are specifically trying to work with like minded socially responsible companies,” said chairman Jim Brown.

"Together we feel we can have a wider impact on the game, by doing things differently, but this can only be achieved with your support.”

The club have already shown themselves to be forward thinking.

City announced earlier this week that they will host their home games in League Two on Friday nights for the coming season in a bid to increase attendances.

The club said: "We often hear from Edinburgh sports fans that they always look out for our result and would love to come and see our matches if they had the chance, so with this in mind we started to think outside the box about how best to make this possible.”
