Israel’s friendly with Norway, scheduled for Wednesday night, was cancelled after some of the squad failed tests and Ross is hoping that his first-choice keeper can get through the remainder of the international fixtures without becoming infected.

“He’s OK at the moment,” said the Hibs boss. “But they have obviously had issues previously and this one positive now. As things stand he is still preparing for the upcoming fixtures he has, one against Scotland.

“I said during the last international break that there is that risk with any of your players when they go away into another group. But, touch wood, he has been OK and hopefully that will remain the case until next Friday when he rejoins us.”
