Broxburn Athletic 2

Newtongrange Star 1

A DOUBLE from Kieran Anderson – sandwiching an equaliser from the visitors’ Jordan Cropley – sealed a last-eight spot for the home side. The opener came after 33 minutes when a Miller attempt came back off the keeper and Anderson was there to prod the ball home at the second attempt. Anderson hit the post from the penalty spot just after the break. The equaliser came just after the hour mark when a free kick came off the wall and broke to Cropley, who was clear through to put the ball away. Newtongrange thought they had scored when Martynuik fired in a free-kick that took a deflection and rattled the far post and went clear to safety. Broxburn’s winner was down to not giving up a lost cause. As the ball was played through Nimmo chased the ball and beat the keeper to the bye line, turned and crossed to the unmarked Anderson eight yards out in front of goal and he made no mistake.

Broxburn Athletic: Wallace, Purves, Cole, Gavin, Paterson, Linton (Browne 89), Nimmo, Scott (Gribben 72), Miller (Downie 85), Locke, Anderson. Subs: Richards, Donoghue.

A POOR match with the visitors content to keep the score to a reasonable amount. It was almost total Rose possession but they were consistently caught offside and it was left to defender Ewan Moyes to break the deadlock in 35 minutes. The second half was more of the same and it was the last minute before Adam Nelson knocked in a rebound to give the score a more realistic look and secure a three points for Rose.

Bonnyrigg: Andrews, Horne, Brown, Young, Moyes, Stewart, McIntosh, Kidd, McGachie, Nelson, Donaldson. Subs: Turner, Gray, Jamieson, Archibald, Brennan.

Fauldhouse: Connolly, McSherry, Wilson, Morris, Devlin, Ward, Byrne, Fallon, Sally, Dignan, Martin. Subs: Scanlon, Gilchrist, Banks, Thomson.

SOUTH LEAGUE

A COMFORTABLE win for Dunbar as they continue their push for promotion. Darren Handling opened the scoring in the 34th minute, with Chris Moffat adding a second just before the break. Handling scored again in the 79th minute to complete his double before Easthouses had Gavin Tainsh sent off for two bookings.
