Lee eager to rediscover early form

WHITBURN boss Robert Lee has urged his side to reproduce their early-season form when they travel to face Glentanar in tomorrow’s Emirates Scottish Junior Cup third-round replay.

Lee’s men face a Hogmanay clash at Woodside Sports Complex following last weekend’s 1-1 draw on Broxburn’s artificial surface and will be setting off at 8.30am to reach the Granite City in time for the 1.30pm kick-off.

Whitburn had come within 60 seconds of winning the original tie at Albyn Park before the Aberdeen side equalised deep into injury time with a deflected effort. And manager Lee is looking for the right response from the Whitburn players as they bid to clinch a fourth-round trip to Kelty Hearts.

He said: “I’m looking for some players to bounce back to the form which gave us a great start to our league campaign. Last week, we didn’t settle and had only a single goal for all our first-half pressure.

“Glentanar took a lot from that first half and had a real go at us in the second. They had to and got the equaliser very late on.

“I feel this week that on grass we can do a lot better. We like to get the ball down and play football and last week the conditions didn’t suit us.

“Hopefully, the weather will be kinder for both clubs and we see a better game for the supporters.

“We look likely to have a full squad apart from Willie Rodgers, who is working.”
