Lennon, in France as a Euro 2016 pundit for the BBC, is keen to speak with the 20-year-old, who is attracting attention from clubs including Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

Cummings, Hibs’ top scorer in the past two seasons, is out of contract at the end of the forthcoming season and Lennon is keen to keep the prolific striker at Easter Road.

Lennon said: “I’m hoping to persuade him to stay for at least another season. He’s never met me before so it will be nice to see what his personality traits are like and what he is thinking himself.

“Trabzonspor have come out and said they are interested in him, plus I know there is interest from a few other clubs.

“But I like him as a player. I thought he did very well last season.”
