David McGlynn expects a tough game against Kilwinning

The Prestonfield outfit were far from disgraced in Dingwall against Premiership opponents Ross County, putting in a valiant performance as they lost out 4-2 including a memorable second goal, a wonderful team move which has drawn comparisons with the flowing football of Barcelona.

Rose boss David McGlynn hopes his side can take the experience of last week into their Scottish Junior Cup fifth-round tie away to Kilwinning Rangers.

Winning the Holy Grail of Junior football is now one of the main aims of McGlynn’s men alongside securing the Super League title and he’s vowed to ensure they are fired up for tomorrow’s tip to Ayrshire.

“Hopefully they’ll get a boost out of the experience last week because last year they went on a slump after they got beat by Raith Rovers. It’s my job to make sure they are focussed and they are lifted for tomorrow,” said McGlynn.

“This is the main one and the one we want to do well in. We want to compete in the Junior Cup, that’s for sure.

“It probably be a bit more intimidating and rough this week, we’ll need to be on our guard that’s for sure. They play some good football, I don’t think it will a rough and tumble game, it will be two teams that want to play football. The character we have shown recently has been brilliant, that’s the pleasing thing for me from everything that has come out of this.”

McGlynn has not treated West Super League First Division Kilwinning any differently to last week’s opponents County, getting them watched last weekend as they eased past Shotts Bon Accord 4-0 and he’ll prepare his team in exactly the same way as he did for last Saturday.

He added: “It’s going to be a very, very difficult game, they are a really good side. I’ll give the players as much information as I can on them and we’ll see what we can produce.”

Elsewhere, Bo’ness United host Broxburn Athletic in the Super League at Newtown Park with the chance to go clear at the top. Newtongrange Star are at home to Tayport, while Musselburgh Athletic will be looking to get back to winning ways at Broughty.
