Linlithgow Rose bloom against Camelon
Linlithgow Rose eased past Camelon at their Prestonfield home with a 5-2 victory last night.
Attacking midfielder Roddy MacLennan was handed his first start since returning from an Achilles’ tendon injury as Rose consolidated fourth spot in the Super League.
Striker Conor Kelly fired the hosts ahead after nine minutes, although Camelon pulled level after 24 minutes through Ross Tierney.
This visitors were level for less than a minute, however, as midfielder Blair Batchelor put Rose back in front with his first of two goals.
A Tommy Coyne penalty just a minute after that gave David McGlynn’s men a two-goal advantage at the break.
Their lead was reduced once again though after a mistake from goalkeeper Michael McKinven made it 3-2, but an Andy Shirra strike and another goal from former Camelon man Batchelor secured all three points for Rose who are now just a point behind third-place Kelty Hearts.
