Livingston keeper Marc McCallum up for No.1 fight

The 22-year-old, who has already made 13 starts for the Lions this season having joined on loan from Dundee United in September, left the Premiership’s bottom club on Monday after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

However, Livi boss David Hopkin has wasted little time in snapping up the player who last played for the Lions in the 4-1 victory at St Mirren on  Boxing Day.

Jamieson has been between the sticks for the club’s last three matches but, with McCallum now having returned to West Lothian, Hopkin has a big decision to make ahead of this weekend’s trip to Ibrox.

“I’ve just got to train hard this week and see who the manager picks on Saturday,” McCallum said. “DJ’s come in the last couple of games so it’s up to me to win my place back. There’s good competition between me and DJ. He’s a great goalkeeper and has just made 100 appearances for the club, but I’ve just got to keep my head down and work hard.

“I spoke to Mixu [Paatelainen] and he told me the script. It’s been frustrating the last couple of weeks or so having not played but it’s all worked out for the best with me  moving on.

“I have been in contact with Hoppy since I left the club last month so when he was given the job, I was delighted to sign on here until the end of the season.”

Meanwhile, defender Ross Millen has left the club in search of regular first-team football. The 21-year-old joined from Dunfermline in July but has made just seven starts in the Championship this term and hasn’t featured since the end of November.
