Mark Turnbull, the owner of Turnbull & Sons Roofing and Building in Edinburgh, helped local team Beechwood FC u16s, a youth football team based in the west of the city, after they had appealed for sponsors to help buy players’ new kit for the upcoming season.

Mr Turnbull's son plays for Beechwood and on hearing they needed a sponsor he decided to combine it with helping a great cause.

He said: “Beechwood are a small local club and they need financial support to keep going. And I chose to donate the sponsorship to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) because it is a great cause that covers hard to reach areas in Scotland as well as those easier to access when time means everything.”

The SCAA relies solely on funding from the public and so every donation really does count.

Kate Loades, who works as a community fundraiser at SCAA was delighted at the opportunity to feature on the clubs kits this season and hope that the added publicity could mean that lives are saved in the future.

She said: “We are really grateful for Mark’s kindness and generosity. Opportunities like this are a fantastic way to help raise awareness of SCAA and we hope it will encourage people to support the charity.

“Hopefully it will encourage people to support the charity either through a donation via our website, by following us on social media, or organising their own fundraiser.”

John Robertson, a volunteer coach at the club, was also thankful to Mr. Turnbull for the shirt sponsorship. “A big thanks to Mark for providing the funds for our new playing kit. Beechwood is a small football club and one of our biggest expenses is providing players with kits that fit.”

He added: “I had no idea SCAA air ambulance helicopters relied completely on public fundraising, so I hope appearing as our shirt sponsor can raise awareness and make a difference.”
