Lochee edge nervy tussle with Thistle

The first half was littered with mistakes as both teams tried to pick up three much needed point resulting in few goal scoring opportunities for either team.

Thistle keeper Marc Lunn had to look lively in the opening seconds of the second half getting his foot to a Jon Voigt attempt. A minute later the home support was relieved to see Voigt’s header from a McGuire cross sneak past Lunn’s right-hand post.

Lochee deservedly took the lead in the 58th minute following a defensive error which allowed Voigt to blast the ball into the net. Fifteen minutes later Voigt added his second goal of the afternoon when he rose unchallenged to head the ball into the Thistle net. Fifteen minutes from the end, Bathgate’s problems worsened when Gary Fallon was red carded for a second bookable offence.
