The match kicked was moved to K Park due to BSC’s home pitch at Maryhill being unplayable. After 17 minutes Callum Murray received a square pass and from 25 yards he drilled the ball low into the net off the left-hand post to put the students in front. McCrory-Irving was denied twice after the break but Edinburgh sealed the points on 70 minutes when Guthrie controlled the ball in the box turned quickly and fired a low, left-foot shot under Moore.

Stirling went into the break one up after Craig Pennycuick could only palm a Paul Sludden free-kick into the net. Straight from kick-off Sludden converted a debatable penalty, and Jeff Duah-Kessie rounded Pennycuick to slot home. Preston’s Nick Perry then headed onto the bar. David Scott also forced keeper Tim Hughes into a fine save. Chris Geddes curled in and Sludden completed his hat-trick with another penalty.

Spartans came from a goal down in a game that came to life in the second half. Gala took a 54th minute lead when Dean McColm’s shot trickled over the line despite the scrambling efforts of Spartans keeper Blair Carswell. Within 120 seconds, Keith Murray equalised from a Jack Beesley pass. Substitute Ewan Saunderson brought the home crowd to their feet with a sensational 25-yard strike that put Spartans ahead. Then, with eight minutes left, a diving header from David Greenhill from Murray’s cross sealed the points.
