Whitehill Welfare 4

Four second-half goals in a frantic seven-minute spell saw Whitehill turn this game on its head and secure a deserved three points. Despite having made a lot of the running in the first half, twice hitting the woodwork, Whitehill were to head in at the break a goal down after a fine Jordan Hopkinson strike just after the half-hour mark. On 51 minutes, Steven Manson found Daryl Healy, who equalised from a tight angle before, moments later, top scorer Michael Osborne gave Whitehill the lead. The visitors were rampant and Connor Brydon beat three defenders before slotting home to make it 3-1 and Manson again set up Healy to grab his second of the afternoon and put the visitors out of sight. Two goals in the first half proved enough for the visitors. On 16 minutes, Ian Ballantyne was adjudged to have fouled a Gretna player on the edge of the 18-yard box. From the resulting free-kick, Stuart Burnside made a very good save only to see the rebound knocked home by the on-rushing Robert McCartney. Gretna went two up on 40 minutes again via a free-kick, Owen Moxon’s effort striking the underside of the bar and crossing the line. Strollers battled back and both Ballantyne and Stephen Froude struck the post. With half an hour left, Strollers won a penalty when Jordan Finnie was fouled inside the box, Jack Downie stepped up to smash the ball home. BSC broke the deadlock from a corner after 32 minutes with Aidan Ferris smartly finishing from a Mark Toner knockdown. Blair Lyons had an opportunity to increase the lead when put through on goal but his effort was wide. A clever, well-struck free-kick by Harvey McIntosh from the edge of the penalty area levelled the scores on 39 minutes. The second half was a tightly contested affair, but BSC took their chances well. Preston Athletic 1

East Stirlingshire 7

The Shire piled on the misery for ten-man Preston. Hat-tricks from both Andy Rodgers and David Grant and a fine finish from Connor Greene put the visitors on easy street. Indeed, it could have been worse for the Panners as Shire won two quick-fire penalties on the half hour. Preston’s Scott Barclay saw yellow for both and got early bath. Pennycuick saved the first from Rodgers but Grant converted the latter. The ten men got some reward for their effort as Jason Young slotted home.
