Lynn hopes to return in French clash

Scotland Women’s goalkeeper Shannon Lynn believes her side face an incredibly difficult 90 minutes this evening against France at the Municipal Jules-Deschaseaux, Le Havre.

The French rank sixth in the world and have strolled to maximum points in their Group 4 fixtures to date. Yet Scotland know that a victory, however unlikely, could put them on the path to UEFA Women’s European Championship qualification.

Anna Signeul’s girls can move into second place in the group with victory tonight or by defeating the Republic of Ireland at Tynecastle on Thursday evening.

Stopping the French will be no easy task, although Scotland only have to look back to last May when they drew 1-1 with the same opponents in Brest.

Hibs Ladies keeper Shannon is hoping to get the opportunity to feature this evening after recovering from an injury picked up on her last international outing.

“Whilst every game is just as important as the next, France will certainly prove a huge task for us because they are such a talented team,” commented Lynn.

“A year can be a long time in football and, although both teams have improved since we drew last May, we can take confidence from getting a result on our last visit.

“It has been frustrating to watch from the bench.

“However, I know I need to be patient, continue to work hard and not lose focus because my time will come.

“Unfortunately, I picked up an injury in the final moment of the recent Cyprus Cup match against Holland that meant I had to sit out of the game against South Africa, but I am fine now and looking to playing my part once again.”
