Midlothian football East of Scotland round-up

Five of Midlothian’s six East of Scotland League sides were in action at the weekend.

Penicuik Athletic kicked off the weekend for our clubs, with a 2-1 victory on Friday evening at Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale in the East of Scotland (EOS) Premier League. Taylor Hendry opened the scoring for the visitors in the 27th minute, with the home side leveling the score in the 38th minute, before Penicuik defender Alex Chingwalu scored the winner in the 85th minute to claim all three points.

On Saturday in the EOS First Division, Whitehill Welfare went down 2-0 at Dunbar United and Newtongrange Star won 1-0 at home against Burntisland Shipyard, with Scott Hay grabbing the only goal of the game in the 38th minute following a goalmouth scramble, before he was sent off in the 75th minute for a second yellow card. Home goalkeeper Liam McCathie picked up the man of the match award as the Midlothian men held on for the victory.

In the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup second round, Easthouses Lily lost 5-3 at home to Dundonald Bluebell.

While in the Alex Jack Cup first round, Arniston Rangers lost 3-2 at home against Leith Athletic.

This Saturday, Penicuik Athletic host Hill of Beath Hawthorn in the Premier Division, while in the First Division Whitehill Welfare travel to Kirkcaldy & Dysart and Newtongrange Star host Camelon Juniors. In the Second Division, Arniston Rangers host Dalkeith Thistle in a Midlothian derby and Easthouses Lily travel to Craigroyston. Kick-offs 2.30pm.
