The Hibs boss reacted furiously to a bad challenge by Morton striker Kudus Oyenuga on Jordon Forster, which sparked a melee in front of the home dugout.

Both Lennon and ‘Ton manager Jim Duffy were sent to the stands for their part in the incident, which escalated when Darren McGregor clashed with Oyenuga, receiving a red card for an alleged headbutt. Hibs have appealed the decision.

Duffy admitted he had acted immaturely in a statement released by Morton.

When asked if he had any regrets, Lennon stood firm in his position while criticising Morton’s statement.

He told Sky Sports: “No. No. None whatsoever.

“If you see the footage, their staff and their subs or whoever are actually walking or running, steaming past Jordan while he’s lying prostrate on the ground, to get into our technical area. It’s ridiculous.

“You know some people say that the tackle was symptomatic of the way I played. Urban myth. Urban myth. I never ever went out to hurt anyone, I never put in a challenge that bad, I don’t think I ever elbowed anyone or headbutted anyone.

“They put a statement out yesterday which I thought was unnecessary, where I was referred to as the Hibs manager, they didn’t even have the good grace to say Neil Lennon.

“It was quite terse and it was more about what I had said and again no concern for the welfare of my player or the behaviour of their player. So they’re obviously condoning what their player did.”
