Newly-promoted Preston appoint Bingham as boss
Bingham, aged 41, who also turned out for St Johnstone, Forfar Athletic, Dunfermline Athletic and Inverness CT in a 20-year professional career, left Tynecastle in October last year.
“I probably needed a short break after being involved almost full-time in football since I signed for St Johnstone in 1988,” said Bingham. “The time was right for a change and since then I have applied for one other job and done a couple more coaching courses, although I already have my ‘A’ Licence.

I already know that this is a club geared for the Premier Division. As a player, a coach and now as a manager I have, and always will, set my standards very high. I want players who will provide me with the right blend.
“I am hopeful that the players I get, whether they are currently at Preston and along with any new signings, will be of the same mindset as me and enjoy being coached and managed by me. They will certainly need to have the same hunger and desire to succeed and better themselves as I still have,” stressed Bingham.”
Preston, after one season in the First Division, were promoted last weekend as runners-up to Heriot-Watt University who they held to a 1-1 draw at Riccarton thanks to a late strike by veteran goalscorer Phil Hobbins.
