Raith Rovers request Championship fixture postponement after Covid-19 outbreak among players and staff

Raith Rovers have requested the postponement of their upcoming match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle due to an outbreak of Covid-19 among their players and staff.

The Kirkcaldy side are due to the face the Highlanders at Stark’s Park in a Championship fixture on Saturday but have submitted a request to the SPFL to have the game called off and are currently awaiting a response.

The Championship was exempt from the Scottish football suspension imposed by the Joint Response Group on Monday providing clubs commenced weekly coronavirus testing, already a procedure in the top flight.

Rovers operate a hybrid system of full-time and part-time players.

A club statement read: “The club is currently dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19 amongst the playing and backroom staff.

“We have applied to the SPFL for postponement of this Saturday’s match v Inverness Caledonian Thistle, and are awaiting a response.

“In the meantime, we are co-operating fully with the appropriate authorities.

“Further updates will follow.”
