Rose face bullish Broxburn

The first Dechmont Forklift Trucks League Cup semi-final takes place tonight between Linlithgow Rose and Broxburn (kick-off 7 .15 pm), writes JOHN GILMOUR.

Holders Linlithgow will start firm favourites against the Premier League side but boss Dave Baikie is prepared for a battle. “The last time we met Broxburn in a semi-final was last season and we had to rely on a penalty save from our keeper to keep us in the game.”

Broxburn are taking heart from that performance and manager Steve Pittman said: “That game was cruel for us because they won it with a late goal. But we feel we have a chance. We feel we can try for the Super League because we’ve the players and set up for it. It’s about time Broxburn were back in the mix for cups again. That’s our aim.”
