Rose succeed in Maybole, but only just

Bonnyrigg Rose 3Maybole 2

Bonnyrigg duly went through to the fifth round of the Junior Cup but only just.

Sean Grady had put Rose one up converting an Alex King through ball. Maybole keeper Mark Weir – the man of the match – made a marvellous double save from Scott Irvine and Chris Allan before Paul Shields put Rose two up.

Shields looked to have put the game beyond Maybole in 66 minutes but Stuart McGrady converted a 72nd-minute penalty to put Maybole back in it.

In injury-time, David Dunn lost the ball on the left and substitute Lloyd Murphy converted the cross to make it an uncomfortable final few minutes for Bonnyrigg.
