Ross Callachan: Hearts demolished Celtic's aura

The Edinburgh club’s 4-0 win stopped the so-called “invincible” Celtic juggernaut but Callachan expects a different encounter between the teams in Glasgow tonight.

“They aren’t invincible any more and even before we beat them you could tell it was coming after they had a few draws,” he said. “They will definitely be hurting because nobody likes to lose 4-0, especially given the incredible run they were on. They would have been disappointed to lose it in that manner and they’ll be out to make sure nothing like that happens again.

“I actually had a funny feeling we could do something that day. I even said to my mum before the game that I thought we would win and she just laughed at me. She’s my biggest fan and usually agrees with anything I say – but not that day!

“With the gameplan we had and the way the game started, we felt they were there for the taking. When we went 2-0 up I thought we were cruising.

“Sometimes when you play against Celtic you’re more up for it. I know that shouldn’t be the case but that day I was up against the likes of Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham and James Forrest so I was pumped up.

“I never thought I’d be part of the team that ended Celtic’s invincible run so it was great to be part of the day and the occasion. I knew how big it was at the time because of the run they had been on. Every team wanted to be that team that ended it so we were aware of the magnitude of what we achieved.

“This game will be totally different. Tynecastle is a tight pitch and we could get in their faces, but we still have to go there tonight believing we can get something from the game.”
