Scotland Women see off Cameroon

A BIZARRE own goal from Ariane Bebey Beyene and a stunning 25-yard lob from stand-in captain Jo Love gave Scotland Women a 2-0 victory over hosts Cameroon at Aberdeen Sports Village yesterday.

The African national squad are based in the Granite City for their pre-Olympic training.

Spartans’ Lana Clelland made her senior debut whilst Hibernian Ladies goalkeeper Shannon Lynn was handed a rare start.

Striker Suzanne Grant was penalised on the edge of the hosts’ 18-yard box and as the Scots retreated, Ariane Bebey Beyene fired the ball over her goalkeeper and into the net. Two minutes from time 
Love scored with a 25-yard lob.

Elsewhere, Team GB warmed up for Olympics with 3-1 victory over South Africa thanks to goals from Kim Little, Rachel Yankey and Karen Carney (penalty). And Spartans Women defeated Newcastle United 3-2 at Ainslie Park thanks to a hat-trick from defender Claire Crosbie. Hutchison Vale handed the touring Magpies a 4-3 defeat yesterday.”
