Scottish Cup: Edinburgh celebrities back Hibs to win

Football fan DJ Grant Stott will be watching the game at Hampden Park with his father Les, 66, and 18-year-old-son Sam (and will also be hosting a pre-match corporate hospitality event.) He said: “Rangers and Hibs have been close this season, with very little to separate them.

“This is a tough one to call but they have it in their locker to beat Rangers. It’s there for the taking and the players have the opportunity to make themselves heroes and legends.

“My own grandfather lived and died without seeing Hibs win the Scottish Cup. This is not just any cup final – this could be history in the making. This could be the team that brings the cup back to Easter Road and that’s massive.”

Leith-born Charlie and Craig Reid, better known as The Proclaimers, said: “We wish the team and the Hibs support the very best for tomorrow.”

Music mogul and former Simple Minds manager Bruce Findlay said: “It’s a wee while since they last won it. Even at my ripe old age, I don’t remember that. I have got big hopes but it has been a very up and down season for Hibs. They have taken a lot of stick for not getting through to the final of the play-offs. Up until the beginning of the year they were challenging Rangers for the top spot which would have meant automatic promotion [from the Scottish Championship to the Scottish Premiership].

“Being a Hibs fan is a tough one because we all hope for so much. We are a romantic lot. We are poets and artists and rebels. We are nostalgic and upset when the team loses but also supportive.

“I have got a very good feeling for today and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll do the business. Glory, Glory to the Hibees!”

Roy Erskine, the grandfather of Hibby tennis stars Andy and Jamie Murray, said he was unsure where the boys would be watching the match. He added: “They could be in Paris or down Wimbledon way. I will be going to the match with my son and daughter-in-law.

“I am sure Andy, especially, will be desperate to see the match. He won’t be playing in the French Open until Sunday.

“He will be glued to the screen if he’s still in London but if he’s in Paris he might struggle to watch it. He will have to follow it online just the way we have to follow his matches sometimes.”

Labour Leader Kez Dugdale MSP said: “It’s been a rollercoaster season but let’s hope we finish the ride by bringing the Scottish Cup back to Easter Road today.

“There is no set of fans in the country that deserve to be celebrating a Scottish Cup win more tomorrow than Hibs fans. I’ll be there alongside thousands of others to turn Hampden into a sea of green tomorrow. #GGTTH”
