South Division all set for a cracker as Tranent take on Dalkeith

TAM SHIELDS is confident about one thing when his Tranent team face Dalkeith in a tasty league match tomorrow.

“It will be a good advert for the South Division,” he declared of third-placed Tranent hosting the second-placed team.

Both are locked together on 42 points, a point behind Falkirk JFC, who have played more games than the two teams below them. Tranent managed to strengthen their squad before the transfer deadline, adding Brian Foster, Bob Baillie, Gareth Gray and Darren Lavery, the latter being secured on loan from Berwick Rangers.

“In the three years I’ve been involved in the South Division, I know there are going to be points dropped between now and the end of the season,” said Shields.

“But hopefully we can get the win tomorrow in a game that is going to go a along way in deciding what will happen with both teams.”

In the Premier Division, second-placed Broxburn are at third-top Sauchie, Penicuik entertain bottom-of-the-table Arniston and Newtongrange are at home to Oakley.
