Spartans see off City rivals

Edinburgh City 1Spartans 3

Spartans put a week of Scottish Cup angst behind them to pick up three points against local rivals Edinburgh City and remain at the top of the Central Taxis Premier Division.

Kerr Dodds broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with a 30 yard cross-cum-shot which curled into the far corner of the net. Gavin Malin added a second for Spartans just before the break, picking up Keith McLeod’s pass before producing a turn and shot from the edge of the area that gave Stobie no chance.

Spartans continued to have the upper hand after the break, and McLeod seemed to have wrapped up the points for the visitors midway through the half after weaving his way into the City area and driving home from ten yards.

City hinted at a comeback when Dougie Gair scored from the penalty spot in the 79th minute but Spartans held out.
