Staggies boss Adams cancels media conference in bid to spark success

ROSS COUNTY cancelled their usual pre-match press conference as manager Derek Adams put the focus on returning to winning ways against Dundee.

Second-bottom County have not won in seven games ahead of their contest with Dundee, who sit six points adrift at the foot of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

Former Hibs assistant Adams, however, was in relatively upbeat mood after the 2-1 William Hill Scottish Cup defeat by Inverness on Tuesday as he aimed to take their tally to 20 points. He said then: “If we can reach the 20-point mark then it will have been a great start for us in the SPL.

“If we can get to that tally then we’ll match where Aberdeen were at this point last season. We’ve got the third best defensive record at home in the SPL. Now, we’ve got to look to add to that by scoring goals.

“We’ve only lost eight goals at home, where we’ve been very good.”

County secured their first SPL win of the season at Dens Park in August thanks to Richard Brittain’s penalty
and were unbeaten against Barry Smith’s side last season in the Irn-Bru First Division, winning twice and drawing twice.
