Star boss Miller expecting fans’ reception to be less than bonny

“I don’t think I’ll get a very good reception at all, to be honest,” admitted the Newtongrange manager ahead of the tasty second-round Scottish Junior Cup clash. “It was never a comfortable marriage when I was at Bonnyrigg – and I don’t really know what the issue was.

“The fans are within their rights to express their views, but time moves on and this game isn’t about me and my relationship with the Bonnyrigg supporters.

“I’m the Newtongrange manager now and I’m certainly not looking back. I’m at a great club and one that has a great future.”

Miller, who said he is expecting goalkeeper Michael Burgess to have been re-signed by Bonnyrigg in time for the match, described the visitors as “heavy favourites.”

He added: “Bonnyrigg have been in the Super League for ten seasons – Newtongrange were in it for two and are now a league below.

“Some people might think we’ll be cannon fodder but this is a cup tie and we are looking forward to testing ourselves in front of a big derby crowd against the Super League leaders.”

One of Miller’s best bits of business during his time at New Dundas Park was probably signing striker Ryan McCallum from Musselburgh.

He’s played a key part in Bonnyrigg’s recent winning run and will be a marked man tomorrow.

“Ryan was a terrific signing and he’s back scoring goals again,” noted Miller. “He’s also got great physical attributes and is someone we’ll have to watch.”
