Over 12,500 seats have been bought less than four weeks since sales began, with the 13,500 limit sure to be reached soon. Supporters have set a new record renewal rate as they rush to secure season tickets for the 2016/17 campaign. That begins at the end of the month when Hearts play the first leg of their Europa League first round qualifier. The 10,000 mark was passed on Friday but since then fans have continued to buy up seats.

Last season, the Edinburgh club played in front of a record 13,500 season-ticket holders and look certain to do so again this year. Renewals only began on May 12 but frozen prices have appealed to fans and helped record the fastest sales in modern times.

Head coach Robbie Neilson explained to the club website that a full Tynecastle will help his team achieve their goals. “12,500 season tickets is a fantastic achievement, and the amazing thing is that we’re not finished yet,” he said. “By all accounts, the demand is not slowing down, so I’m anticipating an even higher number in the coming weeks.

“To have so many of the fans backing the team and committing to the club for next season is tremendous. Having a full Tynecastle every week, yet again, will go a long way to helping the team meet its targets on the park.

“I’m really looking forward to the start of the season. With new arrivals to come, European football and a competitive league, there’s a lot to be positive about as we head into next season.”

Season tickets can be purchased by calling 0333 043 1874 (option 1) or via www.heartsfc.co.uk or in person at the Tynecastle ticket centre on McLeod Street.
