Whitehill Welfare end match with eight men as Uni run riot
The Students took less than five minutes to go in front. A low Jack Guthrie cross wasn’t dealt with at the back post by Bryan Young and Andy Martin, allowing Liam Hely to knock the loose ball into an empty net.
Guthrie then won Uni’s first penalty of the night after he was tripped in the area. Ross Patterson stepped up and squeezed his spot-kick under Young.

Hide AdIt got worse for Welfare five minutes before the break. Young produced a fine save from Guthrie, but the resulting corner from Paul Sutherland was headed home by Nathan Evans.
Nikki Murray was first to see red after receiving a second yellow for wrestling Guthrie to the ground. Keeper Bryan Young was next to go. He attempted to bring down Evans, who kept his balance and scored, only for the referee to bring play back and dismiss Young. Martin donned the gloves and the right back did well to save a second Ross Patterson penalty after another foul on Guthrie.
The Uni striker made it 4-0 with five to go, before being felled in the box for a third time. Welfare captain Darren McGlashan was shown a second yellow for dissent in the aftermath before Guthrie scored the spot kick himself.
Spartans face Threave Rovers away from home tonight.
