Youths: Portobello 15s pitch perfect in League Cup win
Both sides were urged not to overplay due to the conditions but it was a case of exactly that when Porty when 1-0 up in just 14 seconds.
Peebles tried to build from the back following kick-off but the pressure applied by Porty’s Devan Craighead paid off as he dispossessed the centre back before finishing calmly under the goalkeeper to get his team off to a flying start.

Hide AdAs both teams struggled to get the ball under control, it was Porty who were playing more effectively and they doubled their lead within 12 minutes.
Jamie Martin flicked a header through to Josh Dailly, who lifted the ball over the onrushing Evan Polak in goal and into the net.
The second half started the same way as the first with Ronan Gallacher chipping Polak from 17 yards to make it three. Peebles’ best chance came from a Connor Thorburn header but, when his effort failed, a comeback didn’t look likely.
Porty finished the game off with a flurry of goals in the last 15 minutes courtesy of John Devlin’s bullet header, Szymon Merwa’s mazy run and finish and Dailly’s second of the game. A comprehensive win for the home side.
