Golf: Innes Christie down in the dumps despite his hole-in-one

INNES CHRISTIE started with a hole-in-one but suffered a sting in the tail as Glen lost narrowly at Kilspindie in the latest round of matches in the East Lothian Winter League.

Helped by that ace, visiting captain Christie and James Penycuik were two up with three to play in the deciding match in the Division 2 clash, but opponents Ross Colquhoun and Derek Naples won the last three holes, all with birdies, to take Kilspindie to the top of the table. They lead by a point from Haddington, the Glen, Whitekirk and Dunbar in a tight promotion battle.

In Division 1, newly-promoted North Berwick underlined their title aspirations by taking both points from their visit to Musselburgh.

With both the other matches ending in stalemate, it now means there’s a two-point gap between North Berwick and their nearest rivals, Longniddry.
