The new Tartan Pro Tour has received a further boost with the backing of long-term Scottish golf sponsors Aberdeen Standard Investments.

The leading male on the six-event circuit's order of merit will secure a spot in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club on 8-11 October.

And the same reward will go to the leading female in the 2021 Aberdeen Standard Ladies Scottish Open.

“This is yet another example of the incredible support which Aberdeen Standard Investments provides the game of golf in Scotland," said Paul Lawrie, who has set up the new circuit through his Five Star Sports Managment & Events company.

"For the leading (male) player from our 2020 Order of Merit to have the opportunity to play in the ASI Scottish Open later in the year is just brilliant.

"And the leading female professional can look forward to a start at the 2021 ASI Ladies Scottish Open.”

Lawrie came up with the idea for the new tour in a bid to provide playing opportunities for home-based tour pros being hit badly by the coronavirus wiping out lots of events this year.

That desire is being shared by Aberdeen Standard Investments by providing these excellent opportunities in big European Tour and LPGA/LET events.

“As a Scottish company, we are proud to support Scottish golf at every level," said Jill Maxwell, global head of brand activation for Aberdeen Standard Investments.

"We are therefore delighted to offer the Tartan Pro Tour these two sought-after playing spots as part of our wider Scottish Open sponsorship strategy.

"Paul and his team have done a remarkable job to give male and female golfers an opportunity to get out and play and we hope the lure of the Scottish Opens adds an extra incentive.”
