The 23-year-old carded two eagles and six birdies as he closed with a sensational 64 to finish joint-fourth on 16-under, three shots behind Austrian Martin Wiegele.

It was Forrest’s second eye-catching effort of the season on the second-tier circuit, having finished fifth in the Turkish Airlines Challenge in April.

He earned just under £6000 for this performance and also jumped 16 spots to 24th in the Road to Oman, which sees the top 15 earn cards for the European Tour.

On the women’s front, North Berwick’s Clara Young fell at the final hurdle in her bid to win the Scottish Championship for the second time in three years. The 20-year-old fought back to square her title shoot-out with Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies) at Royal Aberdeen before eventually losing by two holes.

Young now turns her attention to the British equivalent, which starts tomorrow at Pyle & Kenfig in Wales.
