Grieve two shots clear to land scratch title at Roxburghe

TURNHOUSE pro Scott Grieve finished two shots clear of the field in the Edinburgh & East of Scotland Alliance outing at The Roxburghe.

His level-par 72 at the Kelso course earned the scratch spoils, with Craig Gordon (Edinburgh Golf Centre) sharing second with Borders duo Stephen Lamb and Jamie Morris.

In an event involving 86 players, Falkirk Tryst’s Daniel Airens took the handicap honours for the second outing in a row.

The ten handicapper lifted the Bootland Trophy with a net 71, beating clubmate William Miller by a shot and Harrison’s Mike Robson by two strokes. Duddingston’s Iain Stavert topped the seniors’ section with a net 76 off three.

After three events, Greeburn’s Scott Catlin leads the scratch order of merit with 167 points, while Airens and Scott McGarvey (Glencorse) share top spot in the handicap rankings on 50 points.The next outing is at Duddingston on October 26.
