Gullane closing in on Winter League and Cup double

Gullane are on the brink of another double in the East Lothian Winter League, where they will be joined in the top flight next season by Castle Park.

The record books have already been rewritten after Gullane claimed the Division 1 title for the fifth season in a row, eclipsing the previous best of four on the spin by both Longniddy and Dunbar. Now Gullane are gunning for a sixth Cup success in seven years, with first-time finalists Craigielaw standing in their way of achieving that feat tomorrow.

That was due to be played at Royal Musselburgh but has been switched to North Berwick following the recent snow.

Castle Park, meanwhile, will be looking foward to seeing if they can end Gullane’s winning run in the league next season.

Bolstered by a tie-in with the Stephen Gallacher Foundation, they claimed top honours in Division 2 by chalked up an impressive nine wins and two draws in their opening 11 matches.

While both title races have been decided, the promotion and relegation places are still very much alive.

Longniddry can secure their promotion spot with a win at Gifford later this momth but, should they falter, Glen can pass them by taking points from their trip to Castle Park.
