Hockey: Inverleith hope key man will be in right mood for crunch triple-header

GRAHAM MOODIE will be a key player as Inverleith face a massive indoor hockey triple-header in Perth tomorrow.

The former Olympian slotted five goals last weekend as the Capital outfit maintained pressure on pace-setters Grove Menzieshill.

The title pretenders square up to Tayside-based league bottom-markers Harris, who have lost five in a row, Edinburgh rivals Grange, who are fielding a young side in the competition and are currently sixth with one win from five games and finally Grove (6.15pm).

The Grove clash is a crunch one if Inverleith want to have any chance of ultimately elbowing the Tayside team out of first place.

Currently, Grove have a goal difference of plus 51, having scored 57 goals and lost six in four outings.

Inverleith are on plus 27 having netted 34 goals and let in seven in four games. It would be a massive job to overhaul the Tayside combine’s impressive goal total before the end of the season.

Therefore, a win is a must and Moodie, who coaches
Edinburgh University outdoors, said: “We’re unbeaten after four games and we only had one training session before the first weekend of games. We are improving as a team all the time.”
