Hockey: Inverleith win double; Grange victory

The Edinburgh side beat Uddingston Riva 4-0 in Pool 1B after being 2-0 ahead at the break on Saturday with Adam Mackenzie netting two penalty corners and singles from Stephen Dick and Scotland indoor internationalist Patrick Christie.

Then Inverleith defeated Western 7-2 (5-0 at the break) with Mackenzie again netting a double, this time from a field goal and penalty corner, Dan Coultas chipping in with two from a penalty corner and penalty stroke, Aedan McCrossan also scoring a double and Derek Salmond a single. Scot McCartney scored two penalty corners for the West of Scotland side.

Stuart Neave, Inverleith’s coach, said: “It was a good competitive game against Uddingston who sat off us for a large part of the game. We created a large number of chances and just have to improve our conversion rate. Defended well throughout.

“Against Western we had an excellent first-half again, continuing to create chances. Overall, I’m happy.”

Meanwhile, Grange beat MJV Dundee Wanderers 8-6 in one of their Pool 1A games at Dundee.
