Ice Hockey: Giants struggle for Caps clash

EDINBURGH CAPITALS are likely to face an injury-hit Belfast Giants line-up when they take to the ice on Saturday.

Jon Pelle, who has been out of action since the pre-season games against Nottingham Panthers, will again be sidelined. The American forward is suffering from an upper leg injury and he is working hard with the Giants medical team to get back to full fitness as soon as he can.

Canadian defenceman Jeremy Rebek suffered a knee injury at Cardiff Devils on Sunday and initial medical advice suggests he will also be out for some weeks.

Coach Doug Christiansen, whilst disappointed to lose key players so early on in the campaign, has every confidence in the team.

The former Edinburgh playcaller said: “This is a massive blow for our team but we know that each player will have to step-up.

“We have an excellent group of guys and I’m sure they will not back down from this challenge.”
