Former Caps ace Taylor Dickin signs for Manchester Storm

Dickin, who it is understood to have been keen on a return to Murrayfield after posting 14 goals and 31 assists in 59 games last term, has instead signed a one-year deal with the  English club after impressing their player-coach Omar Pacha.

Pacha said: “I remember playing against him last year. He was a guy the team struggled to play against in the face-off  circle. He’s very versatile and can play anywhere in the line-up.

“He was under-rated last year and is a solid player. He brings good size and is a really good skater.”

Dickin, signed last summer straight out of Canadian college hockey by former Caps’ player-coach Riley Emmerson, was initially pencilled in for the club’s third line. He quickly  impressed and was promoted to form a lethal partnership with wingers Craig McCallum and Ryan Hayes.

In a well-documented disastrous season for Edinburgh, their form quickly nosedived after several unsettled stars – including McCallum and Hayes – left the club. However, Dickin toughed it out and was one of only two players to ice in every game last season.

Pacha added: “Those Edinburgh guys were put in a really tough situation last year and he was one of the guys who stuck it out, which shows a lot of character and was another of the main reasons why I went after him.”

“I spoke to Riley Emmerson about him and he gave a really good reference, saying only great things. We’re really happy to have him on board.”
