Murrayfield Racers latest re-signing has vowed to live up to his potential when the new season comes around.

Kieran Black joined the Racers last summer after a two-year spell out of the game and helped the club win the Stuart Robertson Cup and NIHL North Cup.

A product of the Murrayfield junior system, Black was a prolific points scorer at that level between 2012 and 2015.

He also produced an impressive display for Scotland as they defeated England in the annual U19 international match at Hull.

Black admits that it took him a while to get back into the swing of things last term, but has backed himself to step things up this time around.

“I feel that last season wasn’t my best, with me not reaching my full potential,” said the 25-year-old forward.

“However, we still managed to retain the Stuart Robertson Cup and go south of the border to become the NIHL North Cup champions.

“This season is going to be bigger and better. I’m going to pick up the intensity in training and, more importantly, the games. You’ll see more goals, more assists and a higher work-rate.

“I can’t wait for the season to start. I aim to impress Tony (Hand) and the fans in pre-season and will hopefully hit the ground running when the league gets back underway.”

Black becomes Racers’ 12th confirmed returnee for the 2020/21 Scottish National League campaign.
