They then faced a semi-final tie against Dundee Wanderers, who finished second in the other pool with 15 points but missed out on topping the section on goal difference from Tayside rivals Grove Menzieshill.

Inverleith’s indoor campaign depended upon the outcome and the result was in the balance until the dying minutes in a nine-goal thriller.

Inverleith held out to move into the final with Dick again netting and he will be a key man on finals day at Bells Sports Centre in Perth on Feburary 3.

Coach Stuart Neave congratulated his Inverleith team and said: “We’re looking to win the final and head off to Europe next season.”
