I've got experience in my corner, says Craig McEwan

Despite not having had a competitive bout since December 2013, when he lost to America’s Dashon Johnston in New York, Edinburgh’s McEwan, now 33, says his former days of fighting under world-renowned trainer Freddie Roach will prove too much for an opponent who will be contesting just his sixth professional fight.

“My experience is invaluable,” he said. “I’ve got to concentrate on what I’m going to do. If I was to be beaten by a guy who has had five fights then there would be something seriously wrong. I think it would be time to duck out, to be honest. He seems a good and strong opponent but hopefully it’s a good solid six rounds and we move on to the next one.

“This fight has been a long time in coming. My last fight in August last year wasn’t even a proper fight as it lasted barely ten seconds so I don’t even count that. Hopefully the big fights are just around the corner again as I am open to fighting anybody. I want to be back out in April.”
