The Bruntsfield Links man carded rounds of 71 and 68 to finish two shots ahead of host club player Paul Ross (71-70) with Murray Paterson, also Silverknowes, a further stroke back after rounds of 69 and 73.

This outright success follows McLaren sharing top spot with Longniddry’s Michael Bacigalupo at Musselburgh last month, having also been in the points at both Uphall and Greenburn in between.
