The 2012 European champion, who has run only one low-key 400 metres so far this summer, steps up her Olympic preparations in a world-class 800m in the Moroccan city with the confirmed entry list including controversial South African Caster Semenya, currently top of the world rankings.

Sharp will also face 2015 world champion Marina Arzamasova of Belarus and Kenya’s Eunice Sum, who beat her to Commonwealth gold in 2014, as well as emerging British rival Shelayna Oskan-Clarke.

It will be the Scot’s first outing at the distance since she exited March’s world indoor championships in Portland at the semi-final stage.
