Millar insists he is clear of injury woes

BROOMHOUSE judoka James Millar has vowed to make up for his European Championship heartache when he takes on the world in Paris next week – insisting his injury worries are now a thing of the past.

The 29-year-old was all set to mount an assault on the Europeans back in April, but he was struck down with a knee ligament injury and subsequently spent nearly four months on the sidelines.

Millar has bounced back in style, however, and at the Tallinn World Cup in June – his first competitive action since January – the Edinburgh Judo Club member walked away with bronze. And with a third career World Championships beckoning in the City of Love, Millar is desperate to make up the lost ground with a view to laying down a marker for the London 2012 Olympics.

“I am feeling pretty good going into the World Championships and my preparations over the past ten weeks have gone to plan,” said Millar – who will fight in the -60kg category.

“Tallinn was the first tournament back and I was a bit apprehensive about how it was going to go so to come away with a medal was fantastic considering I was only 50 to 60 per cent ready mentally for it.”
