Newbattle win Winter title

NEWBATTLE golfers have claimed the Midlothian Winter League title after winning five out of their six matches this season.

They finished three points ahead of second-placed Glencorse, with Harburn next, and Broomieknowe picking up the wooden spoon.

A new addition this year was the inclusion of a junior in the third pairing to help bring on the youngsters at the respective clubs.

And, though Broomieknowe may not have enjoyed much success in the senior event, the looks to have some good juniors coming through.

That was evident in the separate junior event, which the Bonnyrigg club won on the back of five victories out of six games.

They finished four points ahead of Newbattle, followed by Glencorse and Harburn.
