The Sixties at Easter Road was not particularly memorable domestically but Hibs were regulars in Europe and recorded some famous results in that decade.

Among the European giants to be beaten in Leith were Barcelona; Valencia; Porto; Napoli, and Hamburg as Hibs enjoyed a fair degree of success in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

But on the home front, the side managed just one third place finish, and one fourth place finish. Most of their other places were in and around mid-table. Hibs were beaten finalists in the League Cup in 1968/69, although they did win the Summer Cup in 1964.

Five managers – Hugh Shaw, Walter Galbraith, Jock Stein, Bob Shankly, and Willie McFarlane – had spells at the helm but it wasn’t until Eddie Turnbull returned in 1971 that Hibs' fortunes began to change.

Join us on a wee trip down memory lane for a selection of matchday pictures, training shots, and behind-the-scenes photos from in and around Easter Road in the 1960s.
